Africa Agenda’s 3rd annual Colorado-Africa Summit focused on the incredible impact the African continent has on the global economy. The evening overflowed with a plethora of brilliant minds who addressed key issues surrounding the media, public participation as well as social, economic, and political development.

On Friday, Oct. 21, participants were welcomed by the executive director and founder, George Bamu. He encouraged volunteers, guests, and table leaders to build relationships stemming from these dialogues.

Guest speakers urged attendees to strengthen the power of working collectively for a successful future.

Following cuisine provided by Akwaaba, Konjo Catering, and Pikin Grill, facilitator Chris Allen explained the World Cafe-style discussion. This is a flexible and simple format for hosting large group dialogues. Participants were separated into nine tables where each addressed a question related to the issue. Tables were lead by specialists with experience in these fields.

Discussions focused on the tremendous solutions Africans are innovating daily and exchanged views on how to assist the continent. The night ended with networking, dancing, and live music provided by Mokamba Dance Ensemble.

Africa Agenda strives to continue to provide the space to address these issues. The open dialogue and ability to speak freely encouraged attendees to consider issues from multiple perspectives. Each discussion was recorded with key points and we look forward to publishing this information to the public.
