The Africa Agenda organization is pleased to announce the receipt of a $4,000 grant award from The Denver Foundation.
In a letter to the Africa Agenda organization dated December 2014, the Foundation stated, among other things, “Africa Agenda works to eliminate negative and biased perceptions the community at large may have about African contributions to American society, using Denver as its backyard.”
The letter continued, Africa Agenda “achieves this goal by integrating the various perspectives, experiences, and, most importantly, the many assets of Africans by using news media and symposia.”
“This grant money will be used to help strengthen Africa Agenda as we look forward to our growth in the years ahead. We are thankful to the Denver Foundation for this award,” said George Bamu, Executive Director of Africa Agenda.

Founded in 2004 and formed as a 501C(3) non-profit organization, Africa Agenda’s mission is to promote positive African News through engagement with the community, mass media outlets, leaders, and laypeople. Since March 2005, Africa Agenda has organized over 200 Africa-related events around the Denver metro area.
Recently the organization held the Colorado-Africa Leaders’ Summit in Denver, an event that was inspired by the historic U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit organized by President Obama in 2014. The Colorado Summit brought together an estimated 100 leaders to discuss opportunities for business, trade, and education between Colorado and Africa.
