September 10, 2013Fair Trade Retailer Expands Into North Denver
September 18, 2013Since leaving office in 2009, former U.S. President George W. Bush has been busy doing many things, including humanitarian work in Southern Africa.
Bush and his wife, former first lady Laura Bush, have been traveling back and forth to Zambia, where they have setup a clinic to help in the fight against cervical cancer in the country.
Bush is also doing work on Malaria and HIV/AIDS in neighboring Botswana.
For this work and other humanitarian work he did while still president, the University of Denver (DU) Josef Korbel School of International Studies honored Bush with a Global Service Award at its annual Korbel Dinner on September 9.
According to the Denver Post, the event which took place at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Denver, drew public protests, including protects from some students and faculty members at DU.
According to DU the event raised more $670,000 that will go towards scholarships and faculty research at the university.
