In preparation for its 3rd annual ColoradoAfrica summit, the Africa Agenda organization today released the agenda for the October 21 African Ingenuity Summit.

The agenda, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time, incorporates time for guest registration, remarks by selected speakers, entertainment and more importantly time for discussion on the key issues of the day. These discussions, focused on three subjects; the media, public participation and social and economic development, will be led by specialists in the field.

A specialist will pose a question, followed by a dialogue with table participants about how best to address the issue. Each table will select a recorder who will note the main points of the discussion to be shared with the public.

Examples of key questions include the following:

  • What are the bright spots in the media coverage of Africa?
  • How are Africans improving governance across the continent?
  • What are the most effective ways that we and our governments are engaging with them?
  • How are Africans advancing the health and well-being of their communities?
  • What are the most successful ways in which Americans have been working with them to make a difference?

Similar to the 2014 summit, the organization hopes to publish the findings at a date to be determined. “The evening will draw on resources from our own community to make some of these lessons available and to discuss how we can act and move forward on them,” noted A. Scott Dupree who chairs the board of Africa Agenda.

While space is limited, there is still time for prospective participants to register for the event.
