Africa Agenda is a grassroots organization with an extensive aspiration to advance understanding of Africa and Africans around the world. We work to foster this greater understanding and engagement about Africa and African society by promoting positive African news and information.

Since 2005 Africa Agenda has worked with bloggers and built networks in more than 15 African countries to report critical news and information about Africa in the 21st century. We have organized more than 150 events and published dozens of blog posts which provide exposure to issues impacting African elections, economic growth, the environment, business and culture.

As a result, more than 10,000 people from the local and international communities have met, discussed and exchanged information and ideas about emerging opportunities and ways to make life better for our communities. Registered as a 501(c) (3) in the Denver, Colorado, we seek to both test out and strengthen perspectives on Africa using local and international resources.

Now eight-years old, we have barely begun our work.

As we continue this work, we have a limited opportunity for three dedicated Denver-area volunteers to work with us and bring change to the community through the media. As an Africa Agenda multimedia fellow, you’ll spend a minimum six months to a year(with a flexibility that fits your work schedule) doing a variety of media production work, including the following:

  • Editing with cutting-edge software and hardware,
  • Helping with live streaming of events
  • Doing field and studio production using High Definition equipment.

All training will be provided to you for free through a partnership grant between Africa Agenda and a local media organization. After training, you will put your expertise to use by developing quality content, and helping us organize several special events in 2014.

Above all, we are looking for prospective fellows who possess the following:

  • A knack for new media and information technology.
  • An eagerness  to learn about Africa.
  • An ability for fostering understanding of Africa, locally and internationally.
  • Understanding of our mission, with a desire to help us grow.
